Janell Urban joined USD 232 in 2025 as principal of Riverview Elementary. She is honored to serve the Riverview community and is committed to fostering a culture where students, staff, and families feel connected, supported, and empowered to grow.

Prior to joining USD 232, Dr. Urban served in Kansas City Kansas Public Schools beginning in 2005. Throughout her career, she has held the roles of classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. Before moving to the Kansas City area, she taught preschool in Colorado and kindergarten in Dodge City Public Schools.

Dr. Urban earned her Doctor of Education degree from Baker University in 2025. She also holds degrees in elementary education and educational leadership. Her professional interests include instructional excellence, collaborative leadership, and creating positive learning environments where all students can thrive.

Dr. Urban and her husband, Timothy, have been part of the USD 232 community for more than 20 years and have two sons. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, and staying active.

Mrs. Heather Conway, Building Coordinator

Heather Conway has proudly served in USD 232 since 2020. Mrs. Conway began her career in the district as a reading specialist at Riverview Elementary before transitioning to the building coordinator role in 2023.

Mrs. Conway's career in education spans more than 25 years, beginning in 2000. She has held a variety of roles, including kindergarten through second grade classroom teacher, Title I reading and math teacher, and district reading director. 

Mrs. Conway has a building administrator license, a reading specialist master's degree, and a bachelor's degree in education, all from Emporia State University.

Mrs. Conway is married to a fellow educator, and together they have two grown children.
