3rd Grade

Carolyn Moore

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE third graders. I started teaching in 1989 and have spent almost all of that time with 8 and 9 year olds!!!! All but my first year has been firmly planted in third grade. When I am not busy at school, I am busy at home!!!! I have 4 children, most are all grown. My youngest will graduate from DHS in 2025. Please know that I will always strive to be an incredible teacher for your children, as I have always wished for my own. I LOVE being outdoors and being WARM!!!!! I spend a ton of my summers mowing and treating myself to lots of  POOL TIME!!!  I also have a deep love for exclamation points and gel pens!!!!!

Lynnsey Keehn

Hey there! My name is Lynnsey Keehn! I'm an Overland Park, KS native and a graduate of Kansas State University. I earned my bachelor's degree in science of education with a minor in Biology and am in the process of completing this degree with a bachelor's in marine biology and sustainable aquaculture. I recently completed my first-year teaching Kindergarten at Horizon Elementary. I absolutely love working with children and helping them grow and learn. When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me exploring the great outdoors, reading a book, playing with my dog Tucker, or booking time to travel to the beach...I like to stay warm! I can't wait to begin teaching 3rd grade and help them grow into brilliant leaders!

Christine Sloan

I absolutely love teaching 3rd grade and have for many years now!!! I graduated from KState (EMAW!) in 2000 and have taught both 2nd and 3rd grade. I earned my Master’s in 2006 from Baker University with an ELL endorsement as well. I feel very fortunate to have taught for 23 years and 16 of them have been as a classroom teacher at Riverview!!! When I’m at home, I’m usually reading, watching movies, or hanging outside with my husband Brandon, our 2 kiddos; Addy who is 11, Dax who is 9 and our 3-year-old German Shepherd Bella! My motto that I teach all of my students is “work hard and have fun!”

Lexi Knappen

Hey there! My name is Lexi Knappen and I am a 1st year third grade teacher this year! I was born and raised in the DeSoto school district, so teaching here is a dream come true! I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education from K-State in 2022. Go Cats! I've been lucky enough to experience subbing in various grade levels at various schools in the district and am thrilled to call 3rd grade here at Riverview Elementary my home. I believe the most important part of being an educator is creating trustworthy, genuine relationships with your students, which is what I am looking forward to doing most this upcoming year. I love to play games, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I cannot wait to start my teaching journey!

Amanda Smith

Outside of school, you can find me attending my oldest daughter's sporting events, being outside, and enjoying time with my family.
